In a major step towards easing traffic congestion in South Delhi, the Public Works Department (PWD) has handed over the long-awaited 9-kilometre Mandi Road decongestion project to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The project, covering a stretch of around 9.05 km, aims to improve connectivity between Chhatarpur and the Gurgaon–Faridabad corridor—one of the busiest routes in the region.
Project Details and Significance
Officials stated that the road will be widened to a proposed 30-metre right of way, addressing the current issue of uneven and narrow stretches. The plan also involves land acquisition of nearly 16.9 hectares and the possibility of an elevated corridor to further streamline traffic flow.
This long-pending infrastructure upgrade is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve daily commuting for thousands of residents.
